Dear
Bruce,

Winter has arrived; temperatures are dancing near
freezing and the sun is glistening off the frozen pond.
(Occasionally it doesn't rain in Oregon.) The snow is
starting to fall at the higher elevations, and smoke is streaming
from chimneys. Even though some things are slowing
down in the Valley, we are excited for the holidays
and are gearing up for the ado that is going on at the Inn...

A New
Face at Brookside - We have a bright new
face here at the Inn. Christie Shertzer has joined us. Some
of you may have met her during her tenure as the manager of The
Tasting Room in Carlton. Try as we might to conjure up an
official job title for our new cohort, we decided that it just
seemed way too corporate for the Valley. So we are all just
going ahead with what needs to be done. We are excited to
have her on the team.

Brookside
Wine Club - Good news! The Oregon Liquor Control
Commission has granted our license to sell wine. We are
preparing our first wine club shipment and will begin shipping on
Monday, December 14, in plenty of time for holiday cheer. The
wine shipments will consist of small boutique producers of Pinot
noir from the Willamette Valley, and we will strive to select ones
of high quality and reasonable prices. If you are not a
member and interested in joining, please contact Bruce
or Christie
for details. We have a few slots left and there is still time
to get in on the December shipment. This is also a perfect
gift for the person that seems to have everything.

A
Country Inn - As most of you know, The Brookside with the stream,
lake and trails is a very unique property - more unique than we had
envisioned when we purchased it. While technically licensed
as a B & B due to zoning restriction, the feel here is more of
an elegant yet cozy Country Inn; one without doilies, lace or
potpourri. The feedback we have received from guests and
neighbors is that there is a need for a facility like The Brookside
Inn, but with a larger capacity for meetings, culinary and wine
events, families, celebrations... In that spirit, we have worked with
and been permitted by Yamhill County to expand the Inn. This
will be a work in progress, and one that we are thrilled to
experience. We would love your thoughts and will keep you up
to date with the gory details as they unfold. In the
meantime, we are going to huddle up by the roaring fire, sip some
fantastic Oregon Pinot and brainstorm about the upcoming events.

From
all of us here at the Brookside Inn, many wishes for a safe and
happy holiday season.
Cheers!
